Why the La La Land didn’t make me go all la la

14 Oscar nomination. 144 other awards, and 200 nominations. A Metascore of 93 (!) on IMDb. Piles upon piles upon piles of enthusiastic critic reviews. And yet I left the cinema disappointed. All throughout this movie, I was sitting there, in my surprisingly comfy seat in Stratford's Picturehouse, wondering what the hell went wrong with this… Continue reading Why the La La Land didn’t make me go all la la

Why you should drop everything and watch Fantastic Beasts

I am a true Potterhead. Always have, probably always will. I genuinely can't wait to introduce my future children to Harry, Ron and Hermione's adventures at Hogwarts. But somehow the little addition to the series, Fantastic Bests and Where to Find Them, has never found itself on my shelf. When I heard that a story based around… Continue reading Why you should drop everything and watch Fantastic Beasts

What 3 years with Gossip Girl taught me

It sometimes feels like it's only been a few weeks since the last Gossip Girl episode has aired. Then I realise it's been over 4 years and start to feel old...I started watching it just before season 3 started, and got sucked in instantly. I totally binged it - I think my longest day was… Continue reading What 3 years with Gossip Girl taught me

4.5 years with a Kindle – review

*Just to make things clear - this review is in no way endorsed by Amazon, I have never been asked by them to do it, and although I did receive my Kindle for free, it was from my parents, not a multibillion dollar corporation. So my opinion is honest and biased only by my love for… Continue reading 4.5 years with a Kindle – review

What 11 seasons of Bones have taught me

I am a bit of a TV show addict. I got hooked on great tv in primary school, which is when I fell in love with med dramas - first ER (which caused me to have hots for George Clooney ever since), then Grey's Anatomy, which I'm still faithful to 13 seasons on (and counting). I… Continue reading What 11 seasons of Bones have taught me

Money Monster – review

What do you do on holiday when it's raining? Go to a museum? Nah, boring. Sit in a cafe and drink hot chocolate? Nah, you can do that any time. The true escape from cold, torrential rain can only occur if you can neither hear nor feel nor see it. And that's only possible if you… Continue reading Money Monster – review

The best TV shows I’ve ever seen and why you should watch them too

I am not partial to a good TV show. Guilty as charged. I love a bit of high quality TV and I can't help it. I've watched LOADS of shows in my life, more than I can count to, most likely, but here are 9 (because most such lists have 10 things and I don't like being boring) that I fell head over heels for and, in some cases, watched and rewatched many times over. With some quotes thrown in to encourage you to watch. ;)
